Chia seeds are sent from heaven. And so is chia mango smoothie.
Chia seeds grow on a plant called Salvia Hispanica, mainly located in central & souther Mexico and Guatemala. They are literally a gift from heaven due to their amazing benefits, and they should have a solid place in our diet since they are amongst the healthiest foods on planet.
Only as little as 50 grams of chia seeds contain over 23 grams of fibre, 9 grams of protein and number of vitamins and minerals, such as Calcium, Manganese, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Zinc, Vitamin B3 (Niacin), Potassium, Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) and Vitamin B2. Due to all these amazing nutrients we should try consuming this amazing superfood at least 1-2 per week to boost our metabolism and health.
CHIA & MANGO SMOOTHIE
Preparation 30 minutes / Blending 2 minutes / Serves 2
- 50 grams chia seeds
- 100 ml coconut water
- 100 ml almond milk
- 1 ripe mango
- handful walnuts
- 2 tablespoons shredded coconut
Put chia seeds in a small bowl and soak them up with coconut water and almond milk. Leave for 30 minutes so that chia seeds gain at least twice the volume.
Cut mango in half, remove the seed & pulp and throw in a blender. Blend for at least 2 minutes. Serve in a glass by adding soaked up chia seeds and topping with walnuts and shredded coconut.
